Amaphon

System: Kukoreit

(unisonoric, side alternating, logical)
(Collection Oriwohl, Nr. IV-59)

Manufacture: unknown, around 1930
Inventor: Mr Kukoreit from Lehrte
Range: C - c3

The Amaphon was designed purely as a melody instrument. On this alternate-sided instrument must be changed sides when playing whole tones or semitones.

The right manual contains all whole tones and the left all semitones. It can therefore be used only as a melody instrument or only for chord accompaniment.

The instrument is similar to Wheatstone Concertina from 1830, on which the chromatic tone sequence was arranged alternate-sided. The Wheatstone Concertina was also a purely melodic instrument.
